What is meant by MOS?
|
MOS stands for Microsoft Office Specialist. It is a
qualification given by Microsoft themselves.
So when you get your Diploma you also get Microsoft
Qualifications as part of the programme
The exams you take can either be Core or Expert level depending
on your knowledge in the subject
|
|
What are the parts of the qualification ?
|
-
Two MOS exams
(Outlook and either Word or Excel)
-
A one hour
assessment in either Word or Excel
-
A one hour
assessment in PowerPoint
-
A one hour
assessment in IT Principles
-
An online
multiple choice exam in IT Principles
|
|
What training do I get ?
|
-
A two day WORD
CORE course
-
A two day EXCEL
CORE course
-
A one day OUTLOOK
CORE course
-
A one day
POWERPOINT CORE course

A two day IT
PRINCIPLES Course
All the CORE courses
are fully Microsoft Approved courses and are preparation for MOS
exams but you will only have to take the MOS exams in Outlook
and either Word or Excel
|
|
I understand that only 4 days of training are mandatory. Which 4
days are they?
|
You can choose any 4
days out of the 8.
|
|
If I start the programme but change my mind and don’t complete,
are there any penalties?
|
No, we expect that
some people will want to “drop out” for a variety of reasons and
we have factored that into our thinking.
|
|
If my circumstances change and I want to take a break for a
while, is that possible?
|
Yes. You have 4 months
in which to complete the programme so there is plenty of
flexibility. If you want a longer break than this, then we are
always prepared to help where we can. Just speak with your
personal mentor.
|
|
If I book myself on one of the courses but can’t attend what
happens?
|
As long as you give us
adequate notice (5 working days) its not a problem. We need to
guard against people booking places willy nilly and then not
turning up and in the process denying others a place on the
course. So we reserve the right to charge a small admin charge
if you don’t give us adequate notice (5 working days). Sound
fair?
|
|
Why is this just Microsoft Office ?
|
This is a new qualification and there are many modules that can
be taken, However we, at Software Generation, have
selected Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as the key modules
because we believe these will suit most employees
|
|
Why do I have to choose between Word and Excel ?
|
We have made the decision that the best way to gain the
qualification is to choose one of these for the MOS
qualification along with Outlook. If you wish you
can take both Word and Excel at MOS level but you will have to
pay for the extra MOS exam.
|
|
Can I take the expert Word or Excel training and MOS exam
instead of the Core ?
|
Yes and then you can take either MOS CORE or MOS EXPERT exams as
you wish.
|
|
Where is the training ?
|
The courses are all at our Liverpool training centre at the
moment but we shall be holding some at our Preston Branch.
If you have more than 6 candidates who can work together then
talk to us about a special arrangement for them were the
training could be anywhere in the northwest
